Happy Wednesday sewing friends!
I had planned to show you some more completed mug rugs today, but I got a little distracted yesterday by a sick little one and some lovely custom orders that I should be able to show you in the next week or so. One of them is for matching mommy/daughter purses. How fun is that?!
Anyway, I just finished making my scrappy bindings and attaching them to the front of my mug rugs.
Looks like I'll be spending my evening hand-sewing binding in front of the TV. I hope there's something good on!
Happy sewing,
Mary
P.S. - If you own a sewing machine in the under $1000 range and love it, please share about it in the comments! A friend of mine is looking for a machine and I'd love to send her some suggestions. I use a BabyLock Decorator's Choice (which I love!) but I'd like to give her some other suggestions too.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteI use a Husqvarna Emerald 116, which is super affordable (in the sewing machine scheme of things) at around $300 or $350. It's my first machine, and I work it pretty hard, now that I've fallen in love with quilting. It's runs super smooth and I really enjoy it. Hope that helps!
Love the new mug rugs, they're so cute!
I always get so impatient with binding and try to machine stitch the whole thing and then HATE how it turns out so sloppy. I should really learn to just finish it the neat way!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have the same machine as you and LOVE it.
Woohoo - binding!! One of my favorite things to do while I watch tv! Modern Family comes on tonight - we always make a point of watching that on Wednesday nights.
ReplyDeleteYour mug rugs are sooooo cute! I might need to try a few of these myself.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with those cute little mug rugs!
ReplyDeleteI have a singer confidence 7470 and it is great. I got it on ebay for $360 and I think it is a great machine for the money. I would have no problem recommending it! :)
My hubby bought me the Brother PC-420 Project Runway machine this past year for Christmas. It was around $500 and I absolutely LOVE it!

Your mug rugs are just adorable. Look at all those yummy colors!
ReplyDeleteI've got a Janome DC2010. It sells for $399. May be able to get it cheaper at Fabric.com with one of their coupons. It's a sturdy machine that will sew through some serious layers.I've been using mine daily for about a year and a half with no probs.
Love those mug rugs!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, we have a couple of class machines at the shoppe...Janome models. I know they are less than $1000 and are very good, dependable machines. I, also, own a Janome - not in that price range but I must say they are terrific machines. Love your mug rugs!
ReplyDeleteLove the mug rugs! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI had a sick one yesterday too! It was an unusually quite day.
Wonderful mug rugs! Sounds kinda relaxing hand sewing the bindings in front of the TV. Haven't tried that yet. Maybe for next project. It all looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour mug rugs are so, so awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI also use a Husqvarna Emerald 116. It is like the most basic "Husky" out there. I think mine was $300. If I were buying again, I would buy the next model up (which I think is the 118) because it always stops with the needle down when you take your foot off the presser, unlike mine.
how fun are matching mother and daughter purses?! i can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI have just bought a Janome 6125Quilter's Company and I am in love with it. It priced at less than 400euros but it came with a lot of diferent feet, like walking foot and free motion foot and an extension table.
