Amy of During Quiet Time made me these awesome potholders for the Potholder Pass Round 2, and she also sent some adorable mini potholders for Lauren to use!
Lauren loves her new potholders -
but I love mine more :-)
You can read more about these awesome potholders and my sad tale of lost mail here.
Next, here's what I've been working on the Potholder Pass Round 3:
These were inspired by the amazing Winter Rainbow quilt by Faith at Fresh Lemons. If you haven't seen this quilt yet, you have to check it out!
I've admired this quilt for a while, and when I discovered that this quilt was also a "fave" of my secret partner on Flickr, I was instantly inspired! I made the potholder on the right first, pulling out stacks and stacks of fabric and sewing together little strips to make the blocks. I love how it turned out, but it took a LOT of work, so I made the potholder on the left a bit simpler. I think they make a great pair!
I wanted to keep up with all the other cool ladies in the Potholder Pass and try my hand at adding grommets. (Everyone else is doing it!!!) Unfortunately the actual installation has been a little harder than expected. I've been hammering away on my grommet tool and can't seem to get the darn thing to bend and play nice!
Here's the back, and as you can see my sad, sad grommets aren't fully installed yet.
I think it's time to swallow my pride and ask the husband for help!
Am I just a huge wimp, or has anyone else out there had trouble with their grommets?
Happy sewing!
Mary
The potholders are lovely! I love the one on the right that you made the most!
ReplyDeleteI can't get over how much I love these potholders!!!! It might be my favorite project that you've ever done!
ReplyDeleteMary I love the potholders! Your parter is going to be so happy!
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty! You're quite lucky! That was so sweet of your partner to make something for your little one!
ReplyDeleteI love the ones you made as well! Very cute :)
Love the little mini potholders for your daughter, that just gave me gift ideas for my nieces!
ReplyDeleteAll of these potholders are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that you finally got some potholders : )
ReplyDeleteThe ones that you have made are awesome! Definaitely one of my favs of the pass so far.
Your potholders are great Mary! I love the design and colors. As for the grommets...I asked my husband to help but was too ashamed to blog it :) Go ahead and swallow your pride.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you and Lauren are happy with your potholders.
Very nice Mary! The potholders are great. And Lauren looks too cute using her own set. Did you get the grommet tool thingy (VERY technical, I know). It's like a set of pliers to install the grommets. I got mine from Joann's. It makes installation MUCH easier. Let me see if I can find it online.
ReplyDeleteThis is it:

Has a low review but I haven't had any issues with it. My husband did my first set because I was chicken. My two other sets of potholders, I did it myself. Easy, peasy. :)
Those potholders are awesome, Mary - both the ones you received and the ones you are making! And your Lauren is too adorable!
ReplyDeleteAs for the grommets, I use them a lot in my bags. It just takes a bit of practice. I have the grommet pliers, but don't have as much luck with them as I do the hammer and grommet setting tool. Just keep at it, you'll get it! :o)
XOXO,
Cyndi
Love, love, love all those potholders!!!
ReplyDeleteYour baby is so adorable :)
These are so fantastic — even better in person :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so, so much, Mary! I love them!
