Well, I've done it again.
Stayed up waaaaaay too late sewing.
3:30am to be exact!
But I finished my quilt and it was well worth it.
I've been working on this quilt for a couple months now. It's a gift for friends of ours who just had a baby, and I had promised myself I'd finish it by the baby's due date. Well, the baby came three weeks early, but I still managed to meet my deadline since the baby was technically due yesterday :-)
This quilt is based on the Sweet Menagerie Nine Patch Quilt from the Moda Bake Shop. I used Tula Pink's Hushabye fabric, which I absolutely love! In fact, this quilt is a "cousin" of my first quilt. I had tons of jelly roll strips left, so this pattern worked perfectly.
Here's the back:
And here's a another picture of the front. In this one you can see how I quilted it.
(Yes, it's laying on the back of my car - part of my photography experiment of the day!)
The quilting was inspired by Ashley at Film in the Fridge. I really love her methods of straight line quilting!
And this is my "Little Helper." We really enjoyed the sun today.
I'm linking this to amylouwho's Sew & Tell Friday, which was a great motivation to go ahead and get this quilt done! So thanks for the motivation Amy, and now I'm off to nurse that darn quilting hangover . . . **yawn** . . . and figure out what to feed the family for dinner!

That is so pretty. I love the fabric on the back. Who knew that a car would work so well as a quilt display?
ReplyDeleteIt is very pretty and I think the quilting just finishes it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet quilt! i have had several quilting hangovers...once you are so close to the end you don't want to stop! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI love that last picture! Your quilt turned out darling, just so dang cute!
ReplyDeleteWell done, you've made a gorgeous quilt and have done a great job on the quilting.
ReplyDeleteWhen you have a quilt hangover, the only remedy is takeout! I am sure your friend will just love the quilt.
ReplyDeleteit's beautiful. I am jealous that your car is clean enough for a photo shoot. I would not be able to put a quilt within 10 feet of my dirty salty car!
ReplyDeletethis looks gorgeous! i love the quilting.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! I can't get past 11pm and that gives me a quilting hangover. Then I am up again at 6. Maybe something pretty easy for dinner. Either prepare earlier while you are still slightly more alert. The longer the day gets the harder it is to think when you are tired. Well that's how it works for me. Maybe you and your helper can have a 'nanna nap' together? Good luck.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt! I've used Tula Pink for a couple of things and love it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful all the way around--these fabrics look so great with semi-classic block. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I love the fabric. I keep wishing that fabric was around when I was choosing fabric for my baby's room. The quilting looks great too. I hope you had some chocolate. That would help with the quilting hangover :)
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt Mary- Great Job!!!!!
