Hello there! Just wanted to pop in and say hi. We moved about three weeks ago and we're still getting settled into our new place, so I haven't had much time for sewing. Our new place is smaller and I no longer have a sewing room, so I'm trying to figure out how to find a little sewing space for myself without making a mess that takes over our living area. It turns out downsizing is hard work! That being said, we love living near DC again, as well as friends and family, so we're very happy to be here.
I think I promised you a post about the Dr. Seuss quilt my mom made Lauren for Christmas. I snapped some pictures in a hurry before we moved, but the lighting wasn't good and I need to take some new ones next time we have good weather. In the mean time, here's a sneak peek-
Taking quilt pictures with a three-year-old is always fun :-)
I'll try to take new pictures soon. My mom did such a great job on this quilt!
And here's a sneak peek of a quilt I've been working on since before Christmas.
The fabric is Monaco by Monaluna mixed with some Mendocino by Heather Ross and Modern Meadow by Joel Dewberry.
I've been agonizing over what fabric to use to use for the binding, but I think I've finally settled on Kona Ash. Now to find the time to actually do it!
Happy sewing,
Mary
Both of the quilts are fantastic! So glad you are happy in your new home! :)
ReplyDeleteHey, the second one looks like the colorbrick quilt Rachel from Stitched in Color had a QAL for a few months ago. I can't wait to see more, because I can tell you're quilting it a bit differently. I've been having a heck of a time coming up with a scheme for quilting mine. I just like a more dense pattern of quilting than Rachel suggested for that quilt. Looking forward to seeing more of yours. The fabrics you chose are truly sweet!
ReplyDeleteLove both quilts!
ReplyDeleteWe live in South Jersey, so it is always nice to hear about a blogger on this side of the states!
beautiful! both are adorable. I still haven't made a full size quilt! Sorry you have moved up her with us cold spring weather people :) but i am glad you are close to family and DC!
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are really cute. Your daughter looks so cute and happy in the picture. I hope you find some space to sew in.
ReplyDeleteThe Dr. Suess quilt is so much fun! Love the colors you chose for your quilt!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back and settling in!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear from you. Although it'll be a challenge finding a spot to let the creative juices flow, its wonderful that you're back near family & friends!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love both quilts...esp the 2nd one!

Welcome to NOVA! If you have any questions about this area feel free to ask. I live in Fairfax and love it here!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you landed safely into your new digs.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you lost sewing space though. That's a bummer. We moved to LA eight months ago and our place is smaller too....so, no sewing space here either. Doing the dining room table thing. Ah well, it's better than nothing, right?
Hi Mary,

Love the fabrics you used!
ReplyDeleteThose Seuss fabrics really jumped out at me. I literally could not avoid them since we love Seuss so much in our house. I think you did a nice job of putting them together. I am still not sure exactly how I plan to use mine.

Wow! Just found your blog via a Pinterest pin (someone who did your kitchen towels and referred to your tutorial). I live in Australia and am just starting to sew, so very timely :)
ReplyDeleteI love that second quilt - I've been looking for a colour pallet for my little boy's room, and I think I just found! Looking forward to seeing the whole thing.. Now excuse me, won't you, while I go and read all your back-posts! :)

Love both of them and hope to see updates on here soon! Where did you get the pattern for the one you are making with the Mona fabric or did you just make it up yourself? I really like how it's all about the prints and want to make a similar one... Imitation is the highest form of flattery! Thanks
ReplyDeleteoi mary ! seus trabalhos são lindos ! pena que não sei falar ingles ! bjks
